WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?

Aromatherapy consists of the use of pure essential oils obtained from a wide assortment of plants which have been steam distilled or cold-pressed from flowers, fruit, bark or roots.

Aromatherapy can help ease a variety of physical and emotional ailments, from aches, pains, injuries, to depression, stress, anxiety, insomnia, just to name a few.  I like to combine aromatherapy with the use of herbs in the form of liquid tinctures, ointments, and herbal teas.  My first successful 'natural therapy' consisted of treating my migraines and fibromyalgia.

Synthetic fragrance oils and perfumes, which are mass produced to imitate the fragrance of the natural essential oils, are not effective substitutes, they have no therapeutic values and many are, in fact, skin irritants.

Our Therapeutic EO Blends and our Massage/Body Oils are made with essential oils that are diluted with carrier oils for use on the skin.  Because most essential oils are too strong to be used on the skin neat (alone), they must be diluted in a carrier oil.

Some carrier oils can be used alone, but some must be diluted with another carrier oil(s); i.e., jojoba, coconut, and olive oil can all be used alone, but evening primrose, avocado, borage and others should be used in a 10% or less dilution with another carrier oil.  Also, essential oils are effective, and sometimes more effective, when used diluted, so it is not necessary to use them in high strengths.  Less is often more where essential oils are concerned; extend them by properly blending and diluting them.  Let us know if you need any assistance.

Custom blending of our essential oils for targeted symptoms can produce sometimes subtle, and sometimes dramatic results.

Simply breathing in the odors and minute particles of plant material will often help bring your body back into balance -- Essential oils may be used as massage oils (diluted with a carrier oil), used in a personal inhaler, as an ingredient in skin care products, or inhaled via diffusion.

To Flutterbye,
I want to complement you on your lovely website and catalog, it's very delightful.  Also, I've been using aromatherapy for many years and I am impressed with everything I've ordered from you, especially your Essential Oil blends.  I've been pleased with each one I've tried (especially the Rose Garden!) and the quality of the individual Essential Oils is excellent.  Please keep me updated on your new product introductions.    Many thanks, Marsh

How Essential oils work:

Skin is mostly waterproof.  However, it does allow substances with small molecular structures and low molecular weight to penetrate it.  Molecules of essential oils pass through the skin's epidermis and are carried away by the capillary blood circulating in the dermis. They are then taken into the lymphatic and extracellular fluids, at which point the therapeutic ingredients of the essential oils are broken down and used by various regions of the body. After the essential oils perform healing functions, they are metabolized and eliminated with the body's other waste.

Skin is our largest elimination organ. It takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 7 hours for skin to fully absorb essential oils, depending on body fat. Essential Oils are eliminated from our bodies within 3 to 26 hours through our saliva, urine, feces or sweat in a healthy adult.  Essential Oils work as rubbish collectors, attaching themselves to toxins, free-radicals, cell debris, heavy metals, renegade cells, fungi, bacteria, viruses or other debris, and taking them to the exits for disposal. Because of this, in an unhealthy adult, it can take up to 14 hours for the essential oils to pass through the body.

The human body takes the most vital properties of essential oils and uses them to bring itself into balance and is left in a healthier state without side effects.
